In the Lane, Snow is Glistening

Hello All!

So...I spent the wonderful holidays with my family in the lonestar state, good ol' Texas!

It was really great to get to be home for a little while and spend time with my tennis star of a brother, Rory! we watched a lot of New Girl, played a lot of ping pong...im still horrible, and made a huge mess with broken glass... #mazeltov

My best friend was also in town for the holidays...back from gallivanting across Europe without me! #impackingmyselfinhersuitcase #nobutreally 

we saw a bunch of really good movies, the main two being Anna Karenina and Les Miserables! The cinematography of Ann Karenina was unreal!! Just absolutely breathtaking! And Les Mis, as expected, was quite the cinematic experience as well!

I also wound up throwing an impromptu new years eve gathering which was a lot of fun! there was sparkling cider, baked goods, friends, and lots of games!

All in all, it was really the perfect break! I saw all the family and friends I had been missing, enjoyed really good food, saw really fabulous movies, and slept a lot!

You've Been Skating Through My Mind All Day...

hello all!

sorry for the long absence! mixing midterms with the holidays really doesn't give me much free time :/

but i'm back now! :]

before the break, I had the lovely opportunity of going to Pastry's Skate to Donate event hosted by Nick Cannon! It was a Toys for Tots event leading up to the holidays! :] My roommates and I had an absolute blast! I hadn't gone rollerskating in so long!

hello all!

i hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy Hanukkah!

today i leave for SOUTH AFRICA!!! i'm super excited, but also a bit stressed, as i am going for surgery....and i am really NOT a big fan of needles...at all. blehhh.

anywho...it's like 3 hours til i head to the airport, and i am still in the process of packing! i am already a notorious over-packer...seriously, i could probably go pro in "overpacking", but it's much more difficult this time!! how much is too much when you're gone for a month?!!?!?!?! oy vey!!

on a different note: i plan on sharing the rest of my news once i arrive safely in south africa. i simply don't have enough time to type it all out at the moment. at least not in a coherent way...

BIG, EXCITING NEWS! part one

hello all!

sorry for the long absence, december moves so fast!! i've been super busy with work and family stuff, but i'm hoping that as december comes to a close i will have more time on my hands! :]

anywhoo.....it's time for some BIG NEWS!!! WOOOOOT!!! *crowd goes wild*

on december 30th, i will be leaving the country to go to South Africa!!!!

now, some of you might be wondering why, and i'm going to tell you!

my dad's side of the family is from south africa (he came to the U.S. when he was 16 on a tennis scholarship), and now i have a few relatives over there, but most are in the U.S.

anyways, i have had jaw issues since i was about 4, and we've always known surgery was probably the only way to fix the issues, so i am finally getting the much anticipated jaw surgery. i am getting it done in south africa b/c my grandfathers dentist is very good friends with one of the top maxifacialists (sp?) in the world, and he has agreed to do my surgery! it is a huge blessing!!

i am going with my grandmother, and we are staying with her sister, who still lives there!

we leave december 30th, fly into London (layover for a few hours), then we fly to South Africa! I'm there for almost a month (for recovery and all that), and then on January 24th, we fly back through London, and back to the U.S.!

while i'm there, i'll be taking lots of pictures and hopefully posting a bit (depending on wifi...) :]

more news later!
